I have a MF 165 with a cracked block, I have looked for a second hand replacement but not found anything
does anyone know if I could use a 4.236 block and crankshaft As these are readily available
Is the block the same as the 4.212?
Any help would be appreciated

Hi both thanks for response
no crack occurred a while back, radiator empties into block when left standing and there is a visible crack in the block on the left hand side.
my personal feeling is that it is damaged beyond repair but I don’t have any experience of welding engine block nor have I stripped it down to see inside.
I looked at that article https://www.noordeman.com.au/perkins-212-236-248-wtf-difference/ but still not confident that I could use much from the old engine.

Biggest problem you are going to have is even finding a second hand engine or block never mind a new one.

A 165 with a 212 engine is on export, so they are hard to find now.

Give pv dobson a ring. They will probably know if you can use a 236 block or they might even have a 212 engine.
