Mf 35 diesel tank leaking

Filter n bottom of tank blocked so unscrewed tap and cleaned. Put back together and got her fired up but now hav drip from tank. Seams to b coming from threaded plate attached to tank. Put white tape on thread of tap and probably was bit tighter screwing up. Any easy fix?

Was yours the plastic screw tap . They can be replaced. If its metal screw tap and filter I'd try more white tape on it

Leak seams to be from bottom of tank an not from threaded steel tap. On bottom of tank is threaded plate bonded an riveted to tank. I fear I disturbed bondin when tighten up tap? Hope that explains it better.

If it’s not coming from the thread then as said the plate bonded to bottom of tank. You can wash the tank out and braze around it if you have an oxy acet setup. I’ve just recently done an IH 275 tank that was leaking, took about ten attempts to get it water tight! I was just disturbing something and moving the leak everytime Most probably not worth the bother but replacements are not available fir IHs.

You can get stuff you put in the tank and swirl around to seal them, kind of paints the inside. I think I would do that before brazing.

I used it on @REStracTORATION s recommendation worked a treat on a Massey tank . I cheated a bit and painted round the inside the outlet with a paint brush easy enough on a tank with a fuel gauge hole maybe more difficult on a 35 tank though.

You have disturbed the plate causing leak so if you put sealer in tank when you tighten up pipe you will disturb plate again and break new sealer joint causing leak
I am not saying it will happen but it might
