I will be honest don't know a lot about these. A friend has just brought one all done up just for a little run around for rally's etc, anyway fetch it into the workshop for us to put a new clutch into it and we have found a couple of splits in the engine block one which has been poorly welded before the respray. According to MF owner clubs this is common and nothing to worry about but I am still unsure.

There are a lot running around with "cracked blocks" having been patched up, have seen plenty of Fergie's been repaired, from welding up to one where it had a large steel plate bolted on the side of the block, Fergie's seem to crack from the around the drain tap area to just behind the starter motor. Depends on how OCD you want to be about it? You can get it "stitched" properly or welded again (by someone who knows what they are doing) but as long as it holds water that's the main thing, the rest is merely cosmetic.

We have had a few with welded block upon engine strip down they have wierd wear patterns as if the block is not true just seems to much of a coincidence but cant guarantee its purly down to being welded

Should be ok though just tell bime to keep an eye on them repairs
