Can anyone tell me what this relay does?

Under the fascia on the left hand side of the dash. It has seven pins. Sorry for the bad picture.

Think the indicator unit is the middle one.ie the blue one. Can't find a 7 pin relay in the parts list diagrams but there is mention of an interface unit. That might be it. There are no pictures of it on Google, just a part no and a price of around £250.......! Don't know what it does and it may be no longer available anyway.

Yes, the middle one is the indicator and hazard. Easy to see it's working as it clicks away when the hazards/indicators are flashing. I think the one on the other end is dip/full beam (can't remember) but it seems to be working anway. The seven pin relay that I can't identify doesn't make a sound, so I'm guessing it is fecked. I was hoping for an easy answer but looks like I will be tracing wiring!

The mystery relay has "Lucas D13 12V" on the side and I can find relays with similar lettering on the internet but they have fewer pins and are for wiper deflay etc. so clearly not the same relay. The wipers work the same whether the relay is plugged in or not. There are tiny numbers on the side of the relay but a search finds nothing. Can't find similar relays with seven pins either. I don't like the sound of the "interface unit"!:(

Could it be safety start interlock? What does a 390 need, neural or clutch, pto disengaged etc. Could be 4wd, diff lock etc etc

What about the blower fan and/or air con? Do they work with or without that relay?

Yes, heater fan and blower in the roof both work. Wipers and washers work. Just been on to two Massey dealers and both are stumped. Lucas are not being very helpful so far, but I know they are busy.

If this relay does do the lights which are not working, it looks like it will be difficult to replace the relay.

Try this one in Google. Lucas YWC10050.
I don't recall a 390 having a dim dip feature in the head lights but then I never owned one to notice.! (In case you're not familiar with that function, with the key on and side lights on, the headlights will also be on but at a reduced power output. Switch the headlights on and they work as normal.)

Yes, the dim/dip works and is apparently nothing to do with this relay.

28. Warning light dimmer? My wiring diagram is bad and can't see wire colors.

There are an awful lot of wires to this seven pin relay. I'll be back tracing wires tomorrow. The trouble is my 80 year old eyes are not so good at distinguishing colours any more. Yes, wiring diragrams are designed to be frustrating. I scan them. put them up on Photoshop, and then enlarge them! My problem is, I won't give up!

If anyone remembers my thread about the quad, it is now up and running again -- but on;y after going back to the stealers and having THREE CDI units installed in succession! I assume the first replacement got damage in the post and the second was damage either by myself or my mechanic. Anyway, it now works. Progress!

Lots of 7 pin relays for fuel pump, timed output for heater plugs etc.
without a wiring diagram it’s difficult to tell.

Does a 390 have a timed heat plug? Just hold the key like the older 100 series do you not? Maybe I'm wrong. Can't think what else would be timed on a 390 though....

The 362 we have has the same rely as that but a neighbour has it borrowed off us so I can't go take a look for you. However looking at it I'd be inclined to think it's to do with the cab lighting. Spot lights I'd be thinking. It has the look of a power distribution rely about it.

I don't think so. I know what you mean. Turn the ket to the first position and it starts. The MF 135 has a heater position.

I think I agree with you, which would account for the fender, work lights, and switch illumination etc. not working. If so, presumably it would not be a major job to replace it with two simpler relays? Or the one 335d mentions?
