MF 399 Clutch Cable Removal

Hello,

Our MF 399 clutch cable has stripped out. Not the first time either, which I dislike as it is such an important safety aspect of the machine.

I need to remove it but find it is held tight recessed in two forks, one under the dash and one under the cab. How do you get it out of these fork like brackets?

At the bottom the cable is joined to the clutch arm by a pin which doesn't have anything to get it out, such as a screw head or an R pin. It is flush either side with the cable forks. How do I get this out.

Local mechanic too busy and asked if I could get it done in this instance. Anything to watch out for when reassembling it?

Thanks in advance.

If they are like the 4200 series clutch cable then there is a fiddly little clip holding the pins in place like this. Just pull the tab back and they slide off. There's another clip holding the outer cable in place under the cab, just pull this one off with a fingernail or pry off with a screwdriver. Careful not to lose them. Two bolts on the front outside of the cab hidden behind insulation to undo and then it will come out. Should be easier to get to without a fuel tank in the way like on the 42/4300s.
