Mf 4270 warning light

Hello there, our Mf 4270 24/24 power shuttle is popping up a hydraulic clutch warning light ( cog with a line thru it) after about 1/2 an hour driving flat out . No other codes etc coming up . It is still driving perfectly . Have changed various switches and sensors and swapped solenoids from another tractor but no joy. It will put light on when stationary and left revving . The loader hydraulic circuit was disconnected to rule out loader spool block but still coming on . I have an laser type thermometer and transmission casing is getting to about 56 degrees c when light comes on , oil cooler doesn't get as hot . Mechanic is baffled . Would be grateful to anyone with experience of these tractors if they could give us a few pointers as to what to try next or who to contact . We are in n. Ireland

I think the book says inadequate clutch cooling or something to that effect . Tractor has recently been serviced with filters and dynatrans . Oil cooler has been cleaned out and she has the bigger oil cooler aswell

Where can I plug in to get transmission pressure , I presume a spool wouldn't be suitable. The mechanic was in thru the floor of the cab checking pressures and said everything was as it should be

Hello I have the same issue on my MF 4270. Does anyone have a solution please?

Does it have the pressure filter casing bolted on the left hand rear axle? If so, next time it flashes unplug the sensor wire off the top of it, if it stops flashing up the sensor is faulty.

The pressure filter casing is bolted on the right hand side rear axle. The 4270 has not a GIMA gear box, she has a banner lane gear box and hydraulics :) . I have changed almost all sensors in the meanwhile incl. the 23 bar, 4,5 bar and 6 bar valves. I have tried with another electronic control unit for the Power Shuttle. Problem could not be solved. The hydraulic clutch warning light still comes up at low rpm (below 950 rpm, in idle mode but as well when driving) after around 30 mins when oil is above around 55°C. Everything else is working fine, just the light comes up at low rpm <950. When the oil is cold the light does not come up. So looks like when the oil gets thinner the issue starts.

Dont leave tractor sittin stationary with powershuttle in forward or reverse.always have it in neutral as it doesnt have oil bein pumped to it when not movin thus causin it to overheat and destroy itself

Does the tractor have the 24x24 or a 12x12 transmission? The 4200 had the option of power shuttle without Speedshift [power-splitter] and I know that some models have a centrifugal oil filter that needs to be disassembled and the muck dug out of it periodically. If it has one of these [you should hear is spinning down when stopping a hot tractor], has it been cleaned?

If after all the investigations have been done, it still lights the warning light, best to just ignore it until something actually goes wrong, as it just might never do. Repair when failed in these cases and don't repair something that isn't broken.

I've seen some 24x24 4300 tractors with invisible hairline cracks in the main valve casting, from new, that caused the light and excessive pressure in the cooling circuit which in turn burst the oil coolers. That has obviously long been resolved and the light, in this case, might be something or nothing.

I have a similar warning light that come on the dash of my 7490. I know theoretically what should be causing it, but it isn't. It's been like that for over 2000 hours now and nothing has failed due to it yet.

I am from Austria and she has the 24x24. As next step I will clean the centrifugal oil filter and exchange the oil. The current oil is around 500 hrs old. You are right Cowabunga, I try to ignore it and I know that it is not something serious, but I am still curious to fix it! And perhaps someone had it on a 4200 24x24 and found the reason.

There is current lighting them up from some sensor or sensors on the transmission or filter housing. Since the colour is red, it is inadvisable to drive the tractor until the cause has been investigated and remedied.
First port of call for me would be filtration.

I had similar on my 24x24 4345. The oil overheats triggering the lights and dealer eventually found that the low pressure circuit was running at too high a pressure. I would get all the circuits pressure tested.

Most tractors with 24x24 PS will have the internals of the centrifugal removed and a pencil type filter plumbed in instead mounted on the LH back axle. This was done under warranty I believe to cure overheating.

Mechanic told me that the worst thing ye can do is leavin a 42/43ps series sittin idlein with the shuttle not in neutral as the tractor has to be movin to keep it cool
