Tank top is just below rear window so if it is dipped from there it will show half full just as tank gets bigger which will be about lift pump level and injector pump will draw for a small time and lift pump may be working partly also
If you have just got tractor or its always done it it may be worth a try at swoping fuel pipe round to tank incase suction and return are mixed up but if its just stared doing it it will not be that and i think from memory the pipe are different sizes possibly

Have had the tractor a long time now. Just started this caper about 6 months ago.
When I dipped the tank I used a long rod and touched the bottom of the tank , then withdrew it and put it between wheel and mudguard so I could see exactly where the diesel level was. It was halfway up the actual tank , I wasn't including the long filler neck in the tank at all really. Still when I get a mo, I will check the lift pump as it has been on a good while now. Thanks for your help BTW.

Update is all good news . Put air line on feed pipe to lift pump and had free flow of air back to tank . Fueled up then couple of pushes on lift pump and fuel started to fill bowl . After what seemed like ages opened up unions on fuel pipes . Cracked injectors 1 and 4 . Cranked her over shut 1 then 4 and hey presto the old girl fired up a bit slow but battery was low on charge . Run her for a while and all seemed good , no leaks so i did remember to tighten all joints up . So tomoz will try towing . Big thanks to you all for the advice and sharing your knowledge

All good news . Took trailer up lane 2 mile run , felt more responsive on hand throttle so problem sorted . Thanks again chaps for your knowledge and advice

No it will not self bleed ,,open the bleed screws on the filter housing ,,prime it to fill the filter ,closed the bleed nut ,crack an injector nut hand prime again untill it shows ,,hang on the key for a few seconds untill it fires and tighten the injector and will run smooth again

Simple enough
I memory serves me right the filter bleed stud is 13mm,the injector pump screws are 8mm and the injector nut is 16mm

It sounds complex, but it's simple in reality - bleed to the filter, then the injector pump. Slacken an injector union & turn over until it fires... tighten the injector union back up.

What bill ,its a 5 minute job
Mechanic had already been called...... part of my issue is they call him for every little thing so lots of bills. £4-5k a year for 2 old tractors.... this one is the "better" one but fuel gauge is broken, likely sender in tank or gauge?
