MF 6140 with 8ft mower conditioner

Hi all

Got a MF 6140 , last year we invested in a secondhand krone 8ft mower but the tractor struggled to pull it .
I would of imagined the Massey would of had no issues pulling it .
As far as I'm aware the pump hasn't been touched so it's standard

Turing the diesel pump up and fitting a new diaphram, should she perform better ?

Any help would be appreciated

Testing the tractor on a Dynamometer would be a good start.. you might be expecting too much of a 90 hp tractor.. but it probably could be turned up another 20 ish

We run the same mower on a 390t. I think that's approx 95hp. Just bought a 9ft mower, hoping it or our 5455 can pull it!

right if your handy with spanners open the boost aneroid and check the rubber diaphram for splits

Very well until we hit a 14 round bale to the acre second cut last year! Cut it in bottom low!

My 390T will run our 8ft John Deere 1350 mower conditioner on steep ground in 3rd/4th gear Medium range no problem

Your pump needs looking at, you should be high 1st 2nd Dyna and above. If it’s a Dynashift you have obviously.

I'll have to have a look but she doesn't really pull well with a 1100g slurry tanker.

My 95hp NH handles a 1300g tanker on pretty steep ground without any problems- mostly high range 1st gear. Takes a pretty steep hill with a full tank to need to drop a gear.

Make sure its making the power its supposed to before you start messing.
Should pull it at sensible speeds.
Air filter blocked, fuel system working as it should etc.
Get it on a dyno.

Should handle it easily, not in the wrong PTO speedis it?

Ran a Krone AM243CV on a 2wd JD 2650 (80hp?) powered it fine BUT it was dodgy as hell folding up and driving around with it on so it stopped being used

I ran my AM243CV on a lamborghini 874-90 it would go as fast as you could stay in the seat but turning corners had your bottom going like a rabbits nose
