first thing is to sort the slow cranking out.
- flat battery
- poor connections
- knackered starter
- partially seized engine
then its cranking crrectly, look at the other bits.

I worked out whihc was +ve and -ve into the dynamite, and out of it (used multimeter), then bridged the connections with some fuse wire to test it. Proved that was the issue then semi permanantly bypassed it until a replacement was ordered and delivered.
Battery isolator as well

if you search mf 6465 pump had a thread on testing it to make sure its pump failure with lots of helpful input from other forum members.

has all testing dosc added to it too.

i tested mine fully to diagnose pump was at fault but i have to say you usually get an error code, you sound more electrical i.e faulty earth, mf said to chck all multi connectors from cab to engine.

I did try at the start with easy start wanted to fire but at that stage I had no power at the pump the isolater has the two wires joined

For some reason my pump tested fine. Was sent away twice to pump specialist and they said it was fine. Refitted it again and same problems.

Mine was gradual for a while it started fine first thing in morning, error code 1077 came up after about 20 minutes then you couldn't turn it off till you were finished or wouldn't start again.

Then it got to stage it wouldn't start at all.

If what I'm told is right this tractor started in the summer but in winter needed easy start but I think it started once stopped during the day

right start at the beginning
from battery undo and clean every connection all the way to starter on the positive and chassis on the negative
fully charge battery
if you have a multi meter put it on battery when its connected to tractor(after cleaning everything)
when you crank the engine the multimeter needs to show over 9.5volts in the engine, the more the better
if under 9.5 the battery is duff or the starter needs looking at

If I'm right I had 10 volts there I'm suspecting the starter but I had one off a 6270 on her but not sure if it has the same capacity

On our 5465 ( 6cyl perkins )the thermostat that put the heaters on did`nt work
So was a sod to start in the cold
Bypassed thermostat and just held the key on heat, bade a big difference
But it would not start if it was not turning fast enough

I think the man was complaining about the heater not working either I think I was getting 12 volts through terminal at the back

a 6270 is a lot better starter than a 6480 just because the 6270 started ok does not mean it a good enough starter motor to start the 6480 they need a fast cranking speed our 6499 would not start on a cold day until i changed the starter for a 4.2 kw malone or iskra from ACEnginering if you look for his posts you will see what other people think also our 6499 had the heater converted back to manual by the main agents before we bought it a mf mechanic said the original system was unreliable he also said that the wiring loom to the pump can deteriorate and cause problems and check the fuse on the battery isolater if its blown the engine will crank but not start good luck

I’m pretty sure there’s a 30amp? Fuse which sometimes blows when you crank the engine over for a long time without it starting. I’m sure you checked before, but just double check with a new fuse just in case

Open up the conduit covering the wiring around the engine - it's ridged internally, which grooves the wires, eventually breaking them. New loom isn't a fortune, cured my 7480.

That was a iskra on the 6270 think that is fuse 28 that blows when cranking over it's ok and I tested wires from the pump to brain and dynamite stick all seems fine
