When you say the tin work is good does that include the cab? Bonnet is like new on dad's but the cab is like a sieve

Cab isn't bad, nothing too serious. Intend to use it as a back up tractor, won't be doing big hours annually, and hopefully appreciate rather than depreciate in value.

That seat has got arms by the look of things?
No arms on any 600 I ever seen
More of a sort of bucket seat, not that brilliant
I got a nice spring seat for the 65 for £75 and I really like it
I think I will get one like it but with arm rests for the 398

16.9 x 38's I think. (look big) overall in better condition than that one. PAVT rear wheels. fronts are wider than 7-50 x 16, maybe 10 x 16. all tyres are real good.

Grabby brakes. Those silly ball bearings end up wearing a flat spit in their track.

never heard of that problem,perhaps you are thinking of dry brake 165/178 tractors,k reg 100 series 4 cylinder models had girling wet brakes as long as you used good universal oil no squeals,i have owned 6 such tractors and always thought they were good brakes,back to ops question check parts availability for that a 4 3182 engine,as they may be a problem

back in the day we had an A reg. 698 and a C reg. 698T both on 16.9 x 38 rears and 10 x 16 front's. Both excellent tractors, pity the tinwork was so poor.

Nope, I was talking about the 698T and 699 I used to drive, along with a good number of others I've inspected for possible purchase.
