MF 8s

Slightly off topic but how are people getting on with their 87 series’? I’m hearing a lot of good and waiting on a demo, value for money for a 400hp tractor and waranty is really appealing.

Contractor I work summers for has an 8740S in front of a big tanker and it's a joy to sit in!
They had an 8690 before that and while it lived a hard life it had relatively little done before swapped at 6,5k hours.

205, 42inch rims on 650s no weights unless you count my lunch bag

The brochure says all 8S starts off at 7.750 kg so where is the other almost 2 tons coming from?
Surely can't be all tyres/front links can it?
...Might have to ask you to weight it again but this time without the lunch bag!

Weights are typically fluid less arnt they so at a min 500kg of fluids could be added to it

450 litres of diesel in aswell... then front links and pto not sure what else might be extra

The local "Mega" Maize company is taking delivery of 10 of the Massey 8700 series!!! Its took ten years and many upgrades and facelifts for these big MFs to start selling in decent numbers in these parts. Must say they are way nicer looking than the "Tacky" looking 8S. They will make a refreshing change locally to the usual sea of green in the above 300hp power bracket.

I wonder what the stability is like as I’m sure it will soon be tested

Our 6499 is just over 9t

only real diff is the longer wheelbase & bigger fuel tank plus taller wheels
It all adds up tho.

Fair bit of Metal in rear linkage on the Dyna-6 bigger tractors where as poss slightly less on a Vario one. Its a far less fussy linkage setup on the 7499 & it lifts more

Yes I did see one last week (8732) pulling their big Horsch Sprayer and that was all over the road, admittedly a very bumpy road!

Yes they don't glide like a Fendt do they...………...but then again for the money they paid for ten MFs they would probably only get six 900 series

ive weighed up the fendt vs massey argument for years. deffo more so since they has use of there vario box.
if you do lots of hours & want the best of everything Buy & Run the fendt
if you do the other & actually prefer the quirky red tractor buy a massey.
