I’d ask Mark Weatherhead in Cambs as I think he’s quite an expert on MF’sGood afternoon
I’m looking at a Massey ferguson 24 combine harvester . She’s in very good condition for its age and runs really good.
Would anybody know if there something I should look out for on them or common faults ?
thanks
You don’t think much of them then? From what I have heard, looking at it is as far as you want to go,
Probably very clean as it's been brocken down most of its life and done nowt,
Be very good with the spanners, combine breakers on speed dial 1, doctors surgery for Valium on speed dial 2, bank manager on speed dial 3, and last resort MF dealer on speed dial 4 patients of a Saint plenty of red bull in the fridge, pro plus in your pocket, you will expand your vocabulary by learning new words each day,
and have a very understanding wife,
Failing that a MF525 was a far better combine,
and it on a score of 1 to 10, the 525 only got a 2, the MF24 also got a 2, but it was minus 2
Funny that a mate of mine reckons Ferguson combines are the best everFrom what I have heard, looking at it is as far as you want to go,

We purchased a 525 brand new back in the day. Bloody thing broke down every single time we took it out , luckily on finance so dropped in the dealers yard at the end of a frought season and a demand for a replacement made! Replacement wasn't much better and shortly after a JD appeared in the yard !!From what I have heard, looking at it is as far as you want to go,

This isn't a massey combine it's badge engineered dronningborg.Funny that a mate of mine reckons Ferguson combines are the best ever
True enough he does enjoy playing devil's advocateWho needs enemies, when you have friends like that
It’s a k498 regmy neighbor sold one last year, whats the reg of the one you are looking at ?
the 24 would have been a dronningberg ?
there seemed to be an issue with the final drives failing on the 24s and 27s and also parts availability ?
i think the wobble boxes may be obsolete too but i stand to be corrected ?
Thanks for the reply . If you could get his number for me please getting Mix match views about the little combine .There is a man down here that keeps a lot of old and young Fergie combines going but can't remember his name iif you want his number for a chat about it let me know and I'll ask my mate for it.
Ok great thanks for the reply . I have an old 520 super 2 but showing it’s age and going to cost to much to repair so I’m thinking of scrapping it but keeping the engine525 and 24 have no relationship at all not one part off one will fit t’other, except possibly rear tyres.
I would buy neither as there is little chance of buying spares for them
Will find out and pm youThanks for the reply . If you could get his number for me please getting Mix match views about the little combine .
