MF Delta 9380 - UK first!

Tried the 9280 in 2011 harvest. Fantastic out put , bettered the 580Lex but let down by build quality, poor cab/controls. Looks like might now be the top combine it should have been to compete with high output claas/NH/Jd/case.

Think TNS may have beaten chandlers to this machine!
Looks a nice combine. If you have a good dealer and they can offer the support and backup you need. Look closer at it.
Alot of MF combines with happy owners in east anglia.

Biggest cost of a combine is depreciation. I would imagine owning one of these will give you a mighty fright.

I see that Combine World took three big Masseys in and judging by the large adverts seeking offers, it seems they were not exactly in high demand.

That's because they are utter rubbish...... They had a new one where we do a lot of work and it has been nowt but trouble...

have any caught fire yet though??????

tin hat on now.

Actually our Delta did only the other day! About 30 wires melted together, combine surged forwards and could only be stopped by stalling it on the brakes, then refused to move, then some smoke emerged. Only a small bit of chaff smoldering but could have been much more serious if left.

As someone else has said the output is pretty decent when working. It's difficult to comment on relative reliability as I've very little experience of other makes but we had a lot of problems with our current Delta initially - luckily the dealer is 5 minutes down the road. Has been running relatively well this harvest with 1500ac through it so far this season (only going when moisture is below 15-16%) with the ability to cut 100-140ac in an 11-12 hr day. Three breakdowns this year, one minor, and two that have lost about half a day each.

It may well be that they do depreciate quite fast but remember that it's convenient for Claas to put a low second hand price on the machines. A number of large Lexions were being sold before harvest this year at substantial discounts to the prices you'll find online.

New Delta does at least seem to be an effort to tweak an existing machine rather than producing a radically new model which hopefully may mean that the new model is less of an unknown. From what I can see the changes are an improvement - new radiator system will hopefully mean less need to blow out daily and using the Fendt control panel is a tried and tested imort. Whether the output will be any higher than the current Delta remains to be seen.

I'd hire one for the right price as long as it came with sufficient backup and a replacement machine if it can't be repaired in 48 hours.

So what would be the right price ?

It would have to at least half the Claas hire price to get my interest assuming it could match performance

Think the brand reputation is so bad now that no matter how good they are most wouldn't even consider them

Best move they could make is paint them green and brand them Fendt

I would think £25k per year which included the maintenance side of things, a 48hr replacement policy with something of equal capacity but would not have to be another MF and could be anything really. At the end of the day if MF think this is a good machine then they need to get a hire fleet out working because they are going to struggle to sell the things. The last decent MF combines were the 500, 600, 700 series machines and thats got to be 30 years ago.

That's ridiculous. No wonder Claas think they are the dogs rubbish and keep inflating their prices when someone suggests they are worth twice the competitions price!

why is it ridiculous ? MF have just about the shittest reputationn for reliability you could wish for with combines - why would someone not be happy to pay more for a machine that doesn't break down, be that Claas, JD or NH ??

i like many farms cant afford downtime when the workload is big

Hi

Fendt had a prototype over here a few years ago. Went back home under a tarp

As I said earlier where we work they had a new delta that broke down 12 times during harvest. A massive let down, it was sold as a 2500 acre machine, but I noticed they the changed that to 1500 acre machine after the problems started. Some of the problems were due to the pink squishey thing carrying out the pdi.

We now look at it as a Alfa Romeo, they look the part and should be good, but are awfully unreliable
