MF industrial 50ex

Recently purchased a very original 50ex, seems a good going wee machine but has been laid up for the last 3 weeks waiting on hydraulic filters, apparently having to come from Terex in Belgium! Any other owners out there found this problem?

Very unusual for any manufacturer to make their own so I would be shocked if there are no alternatives. Possibly the filter is a rather unusual one but normally there are plenty of pattern ones to fit.

I have an old MF 50 , and use Fleetguard filters. Between 1/3 and 1/2 the price of a genuine hyd filter, and I would imagine of at least similar quality.

Here she is blocking up the workshop. It's a 1992 year. The eBay filter does look like one them.

Very jealous-was after one for ages but there was nothing turning up central Scotland. Ended up with a 50e 2 wheel drive as a winter project which will do fine once its fettled.
Do you mean the hydraulic suction filter in the big canister attached to the left of the loader frame? I have never had a problem getting that filter from the local massey dealer apparantly it was a common filter used on combines back in the day as well as the industrial stuff. Had one recently think it was about £25. I could ask for the part number if it helps?

I had a 50H 2wd loading shovel which is a digger with a weight on the back instead of a back actor, very good old machine it was, very fast cycle times and more nippy than a 4wd

Vapormatic list filters for the MF industrial stuff in their catalogue, might be worth a try if there's an agent near you.
Their Massey Ferguson specific parts catalogue is handy to have if your running MF kit, shows any parts changes by serial number and indicates what else the same part is fitted to.

Currently waiting on the hydraulic filter on the pump behind the front grill and one beside the starter motor.

Original part numbers would be handy, some of the fleetguard filters look similar but I can't measure mine as they are away at the dealers

Lovely machine and that's coming from a dyed in the wool JD man! Spent hundreds of hours on one of these machines and they are bombproof, nippy about the yard and very quick cycle times.. Seem to remember there was a mod involving a new radiator as the original factory fitted item didn't keep the engine cool enough when working hard? Also the farm that it was on was forever losing the little brackets that hold the front implement in place. Filters were always supplied by the local Massey dealer... is there something along the lines of what John Deere do where all the parts and part numbers are listed, then you would have the option of cross referencing the filter number against other makes perhaps?
