Elaborate a bit please. What do you mean it doesn't mix well? What result did you get?

Pictures would be helpful.

I'm not familiar with that particular paint or colour, but metallics and silvers are typically quite ugly to look at when they're in the tin, you can stir them all you want but they still look kind of "streaky" and separated. Stir it well before use and keep it agitated while you're spraying. If it's got floaty bits in it which you can't break up and mix in, make sure your gun has got a filter in the bottom of the cup, otherwise strain it as you pour it in.

Normally you'd thin a paint 30-50% to successfully get it through a gun, this really depends on the paint though. Have a play around, you should be able to figure it out. Silver paint would typically need to be thinned more than a solid paint.

Make sure your gun and air pressure is set up correctly. 3 or 4 light coats will be required to get good coverage and a good even coloured finish. If it's put on too heavy you'll get dark spots and light spots, the metallic/shiny stuff settles and you'll get a grey/dull patch, runs will stand out like dogs balls. Just dust it on, if you can't get the gloss you need then consider following up with a clear coat.

Silver's not the easiest colour to work with. Maybe buy a spray can of the same paint and do some practice so you know how much to thin it and how to get the best finish.

As you say above, streaky finish and perhaps I had a bit too much thinners in - not sure the Vapormatic is a good choice so will try another source - hear what you say about building up with three or four coats so more practising required and a better quality paint I think

Thanks All

I added 250ml thinner to 1 litre of silver mist and as mentioned above it never looks right but heat the paint slightly and spray multiple light coats on a warm day and it dried on the finest.

NB l am not a pro painter or anything near but I think it looks great .

l did use genuine paint from the main dealer though.

Are you spraying onto primer or existing paint?? I would always prime with grey primer first onto a rubbed down existing paint surface then build up the silver in multiple coats (letting the coats dry in between), gives a much better finish.

For painting your 135 use grey primer for the silver and red paint work (the pros advise using white primer on red paint but grey works fine when I used it). When I was young I tried red primer with red top coat which looked like a 3 year old tried painting it.... You learn by your mistakes, especially with paint!
