MF weak drop arms

Anyone come up with a solution to the weak spot where the drop arm is cranked? Can they be replaced with a straight one?

I just don't trust them with heavy implements.
TIA.

Cranked drop arms? Pictures please.
Not a great pic, but the crank can be seen at the top of the threaded section of the drop arm just where the eye is connected to it.
I will get a better pic on Monday.

Never seen one break yet WTF you been doing to break one of them?? :scratchhead:
I haven't even bought one yet, but they look poor and do break, very rarely. The tractor will be handling a heavy plough with a packomat mounted furrow press and a heavy mounted disc.
I was just wondering if anyone had fitted anything different.

The parts are pretty much all standard CBM built and available to mix and match through Kramp. Have a look at one of the comprehensive Kramp parts books or online for suitable alternatives which will be available through just about any dealer.

If that part fails, by the way, it would be highly unusual and certainly because you grossly overload it. The answer is to get a bigger heavier model of tractor. Or a lighter or softer turning plough.

so have you one you have broken ? & if so on what
No I don't own a tractor with that drop arm on it, I am looking at buying one.
They look a bad design and a weak point in my opinion and they have been known to go, I am just wondering did anyone change one for a stronger alternative?

7624. Takes it to the limit of it's lift capacity, especially when soil sticking to it.

As above, never heard of one breaking.
I have a 6490 for over 10 years and this crank at the top of drop isn't on them, it is only the smaller models in the 7700 range and the 6700 range.
It doesn't seem to be a big issue, it just looks very poor and I know it has failed on very very rare occasion.

Surely caused or weakened by someone catching the arms on a drawbar or something I’ve never heard of one fail seen them bent as a result of above

With a heavy plough I would think the top link will be experiencing a hell of a lot more stress than the drop arms. Look at the drop arms of 700series Fendts, they look totally inadequate and very lightly build but they don’t fail. Even the cat 1 19mm pin in the middle!!
