MF135 Temp gauge fault

I have a 1972 refurbished unit which has only done 30 hrs since the rebuild. I am puzzled because even when flailing the gauge is not registering. The supplier workshop manager said that this is not unusual and it is rare for them to even climb into the normal sector. Have I got a dud sender/gauge ? as I would have expected some registration.Comments please.

It may be refurbed but I wonder if a thermostat has been put back in?
However, mine has a thermostat and still sometimes it can take over half an hour of heavy work before my gauge moves too. I reckon it's a sticky gauge in it. Just messing about the yard or short runs on the road and the gauge doesn't move but definately with continued hard work,it should at least rise to near half way.

Doesn’t a 135 have the capillary type gauge with a tube from the gauge back to the cylinder head?
Yes it does and when just now I flailed an acre with cardboard covering the whole rad the gauge moved slightly but not into the "normal". I will check both kinking and the stat. Thanks NT

Everything is as it should be, wait till June on the baler, then it will go up .............
Best take the cardboard off as it might be running hotter than the gauge suggests.
They are really only an indication of temperature

Get a remote reading laser thermometer, will tell you the correct temp in seconds, could save you an engine!
I will, but now know that stat is missing following rebuild, now on its way, so should cure problem and hopefully still leave me with oil pressure still well in normal. I'm in SW France so I get a warranty on the parts and its easy to fit. Apart from this and a safety switch I have had no problems, in fact its a great tractor and very useful ney essential down here. Cheaper to buy a professionally rebuilt model in the UK than as a novice buying anything worthwhile down here. Least thats my experience so far. NT
