This is almost exactly what my Ursus 4512 looked like. No front mudguards. I don't recall mine having the raised air cleaner intake either.
The cab was quite solidly built and not too bad at all.

Sorry, it's the pedant in me but surely a professional outfit proof reads their copy:

"Denis Sutton and crew based in Wexford are set to launch the Ursus brand once again to Ireland. Ursus tractors are a Polish producer and your [you] can find there [their]machinery in the majority of European countries as well as in Australia, Venezuala, Chile, Brazil, USA, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and Morocco. In general, the factory was exporting its products to over 60 countries and they have been available in Ireland since the 60’s. The new range will include various horsepower and transmission options and all will be backed up by a strong aftersales service. Trading as Ursus Tractors and machinery look out as Densi [Denis]and the team put the brand back on the map."

Saw this in Croatia a few years ago, Turkish made?
Probably made by Uzel, but many models were made in both Turkey and Coventry. I know of at least two cabbed 3 cylinder turbo tractors in this area, one of which had a rod through the block a few years ago. I think that the other one may still be on the original owner's farm, although I haven't seen it in many years. I can't honestly remember whether these are 200 or 300 series tractors, but they are 3 cylinder turbo from the factory.

I suppose the MF 135 might have been better with bigger back wheels; mine has 13.6 radials which do make it a little better; but would still prefer 32" rims. But for all the ifs and buts it has to be the best ever tractor in its class. That low end torque and characteristic Perkins 'knock' when pulling is unbeatable in any tractor of its size. A good 135 or 148 Multi Power, especially with power steering and a flexi cab, has to be one of the best and most fuel efficient tractors ever made.

I've had a few 148's over the last few years. The 8 speed feels like 135, good power to weight ratio, with lots of guts but wirh much more traction. I have a multi, with power steering, full set of spools and a 40 loader, very useful yard tractor, but under powered compared to standard 135, It has two extra pumps to power, bigger wheels and 33% faster than a 6 speed 135.
I like the 8 speed a lot but the only down side compared to 135 is the heavy steering and don't fit 7.50 x 16 unless its power steered,

Some of these Uzel built tractors were officially imported into the UK for a short period before they went bust. I think they were available without and with a cab. I remember the cab models didn't have any access to top up the transmission oil.
Anyone seen one or got one?

I was close to buying a 420 a year ago. It had a cab, too.

I didn't like the seller's attitude, though.

Only the 135QD was sold in the UK around that time. The 500 series had long displaced the 100 series and the 135QD was introduced after a gap where only the 500 series were sold. This was before the 200 series became available in the UK, taking over from export model late 100 series. The 500 series were only produced for about six or seven years before being replaced by the 200 and 600 series.

The industrial version, the MF20 was still produced then. Mine is 1977 with Duncan safety cab , the non Q version. There were apparently quite a few sold into farms by Dobson of Kendal around that time. Mine came from George Henderson Edinburgh depot. Only one owner before me!

... and usually Flat Top were for the Africa regions where they like to sit on them! Sorry I can't be more specific but it seems like a very
valid debate! Feel free to contact us with any future qus - I think everyone at MF has enjoyed the conversations your question provoked!

I suspect that there are very few people still working at MF that were there in the early 1970's. What with the current reduced size of the organisation and the 40 to 45 years that have elapsed since. Who's going to admit to being quite that old? :clown:
