MF35 4 cylinder problems

pretty much everything seems to be covered here regarding no fuel at injectors but are you sure all air is out of system as it takes only a very small air bubble to stop pump working

Best not to use Easy Start, to hard to use properly.
Need to have the engine cranking over first, so best not use it at all.
But .......
Bet every farm in the the UK has a tin or two, some more readily available than others.
Your right about use, FFS don't follow instructions which last time I read them said 2-3 seconds of spray in the inlet.
If possible as you say when cranking but I spray single tiny shots into the furthest part of the inlet. This dilutes the stuff enough to stop the knock. The knock is not the first fire but the subsequent firings which are over 'fuelled'.
It's a useful tool to have for lots of jobs, seating tubeless tyres, diagnosis of mechanical problems, filling balloons and making improvised rocket launchers, but like a hammer if it's misused it could cause problems (filling balloons and making rocket launchers is NOT misuse but valuable scientific research).

It's the OP here again.
While tracking where the chuff chuff on cranking was coming from I found damaged copper washers or cylinders 1 and 2 which was down to me
When inserting the refurbed injectors and new copper washers I'd used a dab of spray white grease to lightly glue the washers onto the injectors while I put them down the recesses in the head. Alas they must have fallen off before seating and landed out of line and then got punched by the injectors being clamped down. Ooops.

And while at the injector specialist getting more copper washers I asked him about the injector pump problem. He mentioned the stop valve sticking or whatever, and quoted me 120 to 150 to refurb the whole thing. He was just locking up for Christmas until January, but I think I'll go for the refurb as it should be another part I won't need to repair for many years.
In the meantime i have a set of new water hoses to fit to it and an oil change to do, and also fit new gutters to the cottage after the snow bought down most of the cast iron and run a water supply and 6 drinkers into the stables

Hasn't this been covered in a previous cant get my 4 cyl 35 to start. As for not using easy start, why did MF fit what they called Ki Gas which was a small tank that could be filled with ether or diesel and was pumped in with a small button pump for cold starting.

Tightening the purse strings is a good idea Mursal but getting diesel up to the injectors is my next issue so the pump requires stripping preferably by an expert.
It was running sweet enough when I parked it up a month ago to address the hard cold starting issues.
Then the snow came so I was inspired to drain the cold coffee out of the rad and put some anti freeze in so thought I'd replace the hoses while I had it drained. For £18 for all the hoses it seemed sensible.
New oil and filter seemed like a good plan too as the oil was a bit low.

I had a good close look and they've survived ok, mainly because the injector nozzle itself is very small and in the centre and it was only the very edge of the steel protrusion that nibbled the copper washer.

My friend had exactly the same problem, drove it into his shed, got it blasted/painted put back together and exactly the same symptoms, time period was similar too, a month. He used the hammer trick and it is fine now.

You've all been very helpful and I thank you. It was great to return to the tractor with a phone full of your ideas.
My injector specialist also advised on the hammer trick and I have given it more than a few tries, with engine cranking and without, but still nothing. The 24volt blast could be worth a try to get it spinning faster.
But judging by the state of the injectors and other fuel components - fuel filter in without the spring to hold it up in place for instance!! - the fuel injection pump could probably do with a good refurb..

Want to be proper tight owning a 4 cylinder, you could spend a fortune, several times over. Not that I ever got caught ........
