MF6400 Cab Suspension....again!!

As has been said, pull the fuse out now!
The compressor under the cab floor is fragile so won’t last long kicking in every minute or so.
We fitted new plastic tanks and also tried resealing with silicone and also mastic none of which lasted any longer.
We eventually bypassed the tanks and fitted quick release air couplings to the air bags and now just top up with the workshop compressor now and again, normally keeps up for 3 months!! We don’t have air brakes.
Brilliant compared with buggering about fitting new plastic tanks twice a year at £120 each.
The tank is an incredibly stupid design, there is no need for it to be in two halves.

Ah I see, thank you. This makes sense to me now. So there is a compressor, which feeds the two plastic boxes as air holding tanks.

These then feed into the air bags as/when the pressure in the bags drops....or the height valve requires it.

So leaking air tanks won’t cause the cab suspension to drop onto the bump stops quite yet...I had expected it would be on the stops within an hour or so.

I shall investigate re-sealing, but price up buying an air tank from Jacksons, and investigate springs too.

The sooner I can get it fixed the better as like most the tractor is busiest this time of year.

Just typical! Phoned Jacksons for a price etc. Did all my research.

Went to check the tractor and pull fuse out. Was it leaking?! No!

Just done 30ac of spraying with it and still not a problem. Compressor pumped up just fine when started and can’t hear a leak.

Just been into the fuse box to pull the fuse.

Turns out someone has been here before. What should be a 50A fuse has been swapped for a 20A!

Sure I read somewhere else when digging through the thread yesterday that someone recommended downgrading the fuse so the compressor is less likely to burn out.

Fuse now pulled.

We only got our tractor last year and the compressor wasnt running .After checking fuses found the wiring had been pulled off the back of the switch. Which saved the compressor. I found the leaks with a laundry spray filled with soapy water .sprayed all over to find both tanks leaking .

Fuse was changed from 50amp to 20 amp as per mf bulletin either at pdi or at service . Have replaced shocks on 2x mf 7480's with ones off mf5480 been on about 6weeks been no problems so far .saved 2 compressors and 4 tanks!also there is a common union in box which can leak air the one what screws into brass solenoid then goes via a pipe to relief valve

What is the ride like where springs have been fitted in place of the shocks?
