50 years ago we had the wires in an almet dryer chewed out by mice, 25 years ago my wifes new BMW had its wires chewed . It is nothing new, it is not some fancy new wire coating , its a fact that mice rats chew anything they come across . Basic rule is do not park your vehicle anywhere near rodent food as they will try your car.
Second rule is, do not park anywhere where the local rodents have nothing to eat as they will be hungry and will try anything.
Third rule lots of bait!

We have a customer who works for Audi and they have the same problem, the wire coating is protein based, brand new cars getting eaten!
We had mice eat a turbo pipe on our car, twice! we have caught over 25 mice in the garden this autumn
My friends wife bought a brand new elec Audi Q4 and it has had the loom eaten, been in twice to be repaired over a 3 month period. Friend reckons he's caught over 100 mice this year alone, they live near a small stream and he's convinced they come down the banks.

20 years ago I picked up my van from a service and the technicians where most confused.... turned out the little furry four legs had decided to use my air intake as a larder for seed beans! At least the left the electrics alone.
