Michael Eavis planning for new shed for dairy expansion turned down after 20 objections

He was (at the time) friendly with the farmer who had the party. The year after the farmer had the party, he asked if he could rent a field - it's adjacent to the festival site. The farmer rented him the field and Eavis sent the slurry lorries down and they emptied it on the field until it was thick. Eavis regularly spreads human slurry on village fields. As for festival infill - they promised to pack up any tents left behind to send to countries that need them. The workers go around slashing any decent tent to make them unusable. They then scoop them up and use them as landfill.

Thanks. I only ask as I thought that they were all composting toilets now. Although I've been to festivals (not Glasto - too poor) and the loos are never a high point.

No, and neither are a lot of people in the area. It was quite funny at Easter. He belongs to the Methodist Chapel and he had invited a preacher who he says is the Methodist equivalent of the Pope. He went down to the vicar's house and told her that she had to cancel the Easter Sunday service because of this preacher visiting. Think in the Church of England religion they take Easter seriously too - needless to say she sent him packing.

I thought Eavis was a Quaker, not a Methodist.

I’d like to see evidence rather than the account of an anonymous person posting on a farming forum.
I can quite understand that but the media, especially the BBC who have the rights to the festival like the image he puts over - they don't want to know the truth. Clinton Rodgers who was (don't know if he still is) one of the reporters for the local BBC news programme was at a council meeting some years ago when they were hearing one of the festival applications - it used to be considered annually then. He didn't get the licence and he ran out of the chamber saying. "Where are the Liberal Democrats"? They were having their Christmas party so they weren't there to vote. There was an appeal and Mendip District Council made sure everything was done for him to get the licence. Now it lasts for years. By the way, Eavis can't hold the licence as he has a criminal record for reselling tickets at the gate, donkey years ago. He was actually filmed by somebody hiding in a bush! The reason I posted on here was because I was looking for a report of the refusal of the cow barn and saw this forum and to be frank it really annoys me when people start defending him and saying he should have the new cow barn when we know from previous experience that it won't end up being a cow barn. If he wants to build another it should be on his farm - this barn would not technically be on his farm. Would so like to give you proof - we need an undercover with a good camera!

Heard on the radio yesterday that there will be as many as 170,000 people on site, that is a hell of a thing to land on a small village if it is correct.

Yes it is - frankly it's not so bad getting them on as they go on over a couple of days but it's getting them off as they pretty well all come off at the same time. A friend had somebody knock on the door (after a muddy festival) and ask to ring the RAC. They took them in and they ended up staying three days and two nights as the RAC were so busy. There are more than 170,000 as you have to add in the workers and the children.

22 degree pitch on a 120 foot shed perhaps? 22 degrees rises about 5 in 12. So a shed with eaves height of 16ft, 60ft to the centre would have a total height of 41ft? A flatter pitch would give a total height of maybe 31ft. My recently passed cattle shed has a 22 degree pitch, but only a 50ft span, but total height of 26ft.

You can see the plans online. The sheds are designed with half round rooves. Presumably that's a local style?
