Michael Eavis planning for new shed for dairy expansion turned down after 20 objections

Very nice person Sarah Lane. She was a whistle blower for a care home - the owner of the care home went to prison for murdering patients - takes some guts to stick your head over the parapet about that.

Gosh I knew nothing of that, it has been 30 years....
Please give Sarah my love, likewise the Bolton's, Duncan C, Steve and the gang, they will remember me and my accident prone Vauxhall Chevette....
Good luck with your efforts, lovely village Pilton.

I worked on site for a few years during the 90’s. I asked one of the guys from serious structures why the temporary wind turbine was turning on a completely still evening. He said it was motorised just to keep the punters happy!

That would be right! I know Steve Corfield. Eavis has dumped EE 5G on the site this year and I think he's made a big mistake. You can't call the festival, Glastonbury and then totally annoy most of the residents who are against 5G. There was a angry meeting at the village hall. His son, who is the chairman wouldn't let them speak.

Against the idea of 5g communication?
Yes, the son is the chairman of the parish council and also the playing fields commitee and he without any discussion with any of the playing fields commitee, put a mast up there. We think (hope) it's just a radio mast but he got £4000 from EE for it - it will go to the playing fields fund but money has a habit of disappearing from that! Eavis's stepdaughter used to work for him but she left when she found out he was having 5G down there.

My tuppennys worth (and I’ve never been to Glastonbury).

Pilton is a village with around a thousand residents - I assume that like most of the villages around here (Northumberland), Pilton has got considerably larger over the past decade or two, and that there has been considerable churn in the residents over the past nearly 50 years that the festival has been going (although I do see that it has become really big only in the past few decades). You may have lived in the village all your life: if so I’d guess you’re in a small minority. Anyone moving into the village should have been well aware of the disruption the festival will cause. I’m not a fan of people moving into an area and then moaning about what’s been going on for years!

Glasto is one of very few internationally recognised festivals. You can speak to someone anywhere in the world and they will know where you’re talking about. It’s a massive undertaking and Eavis has been fantastically successful. A lot of what you’re saying comes across as sour grapes and nimbyism.

The festival is held every other year now - I can see that it will cause issues for a few long term residents but if so why not arrange your holiday for that week if you don’t fancy battening down the hatches?

Some of what you allege is downright illegal eg infilling with waste without a license. I don’t understand why the EA wouldn’t be highly interested in that, IF it’s true.

As I say, massive event, sells out in seconds, ridiculously popular, good luck to the guy, hope he gets some more stages if that’s what he wants!

I am local and there are a lot of us. We didn't ask for this - the difference in size is incredible. It's not every other year. It's 5yrs on and 1 yr off. It would be illegal to mention the infill if it wasn't true. EA aren't interested even though we have reported it. It's not sour grapes at all - I've been sitting here hoping for good weather (not too hot) and maybe a drizzle at night. That would be best for the festival goers and us. There is no point having this thing and it being miserable for them - I want them to have a good time. We can't go on holiday - friends have been burgled, various things happening. We would feel too nervous. There is a big backlash at the moment - think he's going to be shocked. I am supposing (might get a slap for this!) that most of you are pro hunting and badger culling (as is Eavis) but just think what this festival is like for animals - they have to clear the site for the people and they do it in the most unceremonious way.

As I said earlier, I would imagine you are in a small minority; a minority for which I have some sympathy, but just because some dozens of long term locals are caused disruption for a week 4 years out of 5 (Thankyou for your correction) does not really in any way make me think that glastonbury should be curtailed.

Your comments would be libellous, but as they’re published anonymously it’s unlikely that you would ever be prosecuted.

It's not a week - it's months. The build up starts in March. Then we have the festival and then it's another two months after that. Then he has to get rid of stuff - waste etc. Then the leaves fall off and then we see the rest of the mess that has to be cleared up - bottles, food wrappers etc. Give it another day and walking down a leafy lane will be rank with the smell of urine.
