Michael Gove visits the Royal Welsh Show

The Environment Secretary, Michael Gove, and Welsh Secretary, Alun Cairns, with local Wildlife Trust representatives at the Royal Welsh Show
Today (Monday 22 July) Environment Secretary Michael Gove attended the 100th anniversary of the Royal Welsh Show, one of the biggest shows in the agricultural calendar.
He met with Welsh Rural Affairs Minister, Lesley Griffiths, members of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society, the Farmers’ Union of Wales, NFU Cymru and the CLA. He also had the opportunity to visit the stands for the local Wildlife Trust and Dog’s Trust.
The Secretary of State also formally greeted their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall during their visit.
Under the theme of ‘Delivering for Wales,’ a number of other UK Government departments were also represented, including the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), DVLA and the Department for International Development (DFID).

It is a pleasure to be here at the 100th Royal Welsh Show, one of the biggest and best agricultural events of the year, in this beautiful part of Wales.
The Royal Welsh Show is a wonderful showcase for the quality of livestock, food and drink and farm produce in Wales and all the exhibitors here should be proud of their achievements. I am very much looking forward to exploring all that is on offer.
