Micro Dairy share farm

In fairness though to the 'cream on the top' question,
^this. One local dairy farm has been making & retailing ice cream for a while, and has an 'ice cream parlour' in the farm yard. He tells the story of how one customer was shocked to learn that ice cream came from cows. He took her to see the very cows, just across the yard, in the milking parlour. She was horrified when she saw the size of their udders and wanted to know why they weren't given bras to offer support.🤣
I do my bit in educating the general public when I can (we have busy footpaths through), but I know I couldn't deal with her type every day.
In fairness though to the'cream on the top' question; it's not so daft really. There's no such thing as a daft question, one person asks it and at least 10 are thinking it.
Our problem is we are letting the retailers answer our questions for us - or more worryingly, through their marketing and PR, they are not allowing the consumer to even ask the questions.
The more people are encouraged to use these micro dairies and independent producers then the better it will be for the whole industry.

Before Covid we had regular groups in to see what we do. ( Average about 500 folk a year)

As farmers we assume that the public have a bit of knowledge on matters agric. In most cases they don`t. Especially women of child bearing age who often seem to have little knowledge of the basic biology of a mammal. ;)

So as stated above the more direct contact farmers have with the punters the better

Would the farm of which you speak have predominantly red and white cows @neilo ?

Go for it! There are a lot of young, energetic people looking to start such an operation. Get onto the Regenerative Ag facebook groups as it's an almost daily discussion. I echo the thoughts on pasteurisation, it takes away a lot of the risk. 30 cows milking as little as 2000L could see you with £60kpa to split after costs if you're retailing it all sensibly.

Works for sheep. Surely it's just a question of scale? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
