Mid Tier Offers

It's supposed to be 6 monthly.

After the first 6 months I was told that they had changed the 'agreed' payment timings and that it would be another 6 months before I saw the first payment. That was 13 months ago.

That's a disgrace !
If we bent any rules they'd be down on us like a ton of bricks.
What about capital items, as my application includes over £11ks worth of fencing, so I couldn't really afford to pay the fencing contractor and then have to wait 12 months to be paid.
As every day passes, I'm wondering whether to bother .

have you heard anything?

Haven't heard anything. They did say before the end of January, so they better get their skates on. I do think not being paid for so long is terrible. Especially at the beginning when you are likely to have a lot of up front costs like expensive grass seed.

Don't worry. I've been in the Mid Tier for almost 13 months now and not got a penny so you're not missing out on much!

I have been in Higher tier for 13 months and have yet to receive any payment !

I chased Natural England up last September for the late payment and was told it would be paid in October.......... then told by December at the latest.....and still waiting!

Glad it's not just me then. My Mid Tier experience is the same as @Farmer T

My personal advice, as much as I hate to say it, is not to enter if you're expecting any payment.

If you're doing it purely for the butterflies and hedgehogs..., fair enough. But I did hope to be paid.

I think you should inform NE you're getting on with it . and to stick their mid tier in their rear tier.....

I still think that mid-tier is really important for us. Also, I do place quite a weight on the butterflies and birds bit of it, and we don't desperately need the cash quickly, so we will accept if given an offer. But it still is irritating how asymmetric the whole thing is.

You can do butterflies and birds regardless .

As chance had it I went to the RPA stand at LAMMA and there was a Natural England representative as well there. Time for answers..... so I thought!

My understanding was it's NE that sit with money. However chatting away to them they implied it's the RPA computer system that has the problem.

Both gentlemen were friendly but in all honesty fairly useless.

"Don't get in touch with us as it'll distract out employees from BPS16."

"Give us 6 more weeks before getting in touch"

"The payment window is open but we haven't managed any payments".

It's frustrating as I'm in the system, had no checks but yet they still can't send the payment out.
