Co2 is adequate. There are rent free companies now. Pay a bottle deposit and buy the gas and then just swap it and pay for the gas.

5% argon for welding steel up to 10mm 10% for welding over 10mm

Most people if not using pub bottle are using 5% argon/co2 mix. Where are you located?

They will ship all over the uk. 5% argon would be ok.

If you can get an old pub gas bottle then take it to a local beer and mineral company. They swap them for around £20. Most will even let you have a bottle for a deposit.

watch for the gas charge, hobby gas is ok for intermitant use but dear for refills and only do a day
per fill.. for big jobs, BOC at £6 a month and cheap fills works out cheaper

I use pub bottles from a local catering wholesaler.

Deposit is about £25 on a bottle and a refill is £18+vat.

I always keep a full one in stock, the small bottles are handy for me as I'll often be lifting the MIG in and out of the van.

An argon mix does weld smoother though...
