Mig welder recommendations

I had one. It’s done 3 rolls of wire and has had as much spent mending it as it cost. TecArc no help. It’s still in the corner of the work shop so I can still give it a kick every now and then. Just get a warrior welder and be done, makes a better weld and better specked

We’ve had nothing but bother with Tec Arc aswell. First multiprocess pair was sent back as you couldn’t strike an arc without sticking, second pair has been a lot of bother on the Mig side. Has to be sent back for repairs and pay carriage both ways, one had to go back twice within weeks. Unfortunately nothing with that name will cone near us ever again and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone!!

Ideally if you can get a 32 amp supply in that will open up the options, my lady got a old BOC tradesmig 200 it's a belting welder in use every day, you could probably use it on the lower settings with a 13 0r 16 amp socket.
Case she feels of spending the same on a good old quality unit rather than a modern Chinese one with loads of buttons but every one to their own.

She always wears gloves by the way.

I would like to get an inverter mig and would be helpful to be able to do aluminium now and again. R tech sell a spool gun to go with theirs. Any advice? Not unlimited budget!

spool gun!!
teflon liners are like trying to push 10 meters of balertwine up 25mm alkathene
Short term there's only one job to do which is son's gcse making a quad box. School have left them doing six months of designing and now say they haven't got the facilities to make it there🙄. Can make it at home with photos or video ( may need some creative editing)

Bought a Bohler recently good little welder plenty of punch, downside 5kg rolls but it's handy for site work. In hindsight should have bought the parweld of the same output that has the 15kg roll. Depends on your budget, a Jasic machine isn't bad put some flux core wire in it and don't worry about gas if it's only for occasional use.

There are so many options, brands, price points, opinions etc. It's like opening a can of worms in here.

We did an astonishing amount of years on a single phase sealey...surprisingly good. GYS for us never did weld right and was back and forth. Kept wheeling the sealey back out! Both around 200amp. Now on a 3-phase 270 kemppi....3 phase is a revelation for welding; it’s such smooth power delivery in comparison; quality welds are now just a point and squirt away. £500 in a farm sale too 👌

problem with a lot of workshop equipment now it all wants 16amp even starter chargers you can get 16amp fuses (6mm bolt) but if you have a 32amp feed to workshop its easier to run a 16amp spur blue socket . i also think now most welders are from the same factories just with different stickers on and prices

What sort of max Amp Mig can you expect to run of a 32A supply. A coded welder mate of mine is planning to buy a new mig for his garage to do some work from light steel car body work etc to H beam shed building work. He’s used using £10k+ Migs.

He’s been advised to only buy an Oxford and stay clear from an inverter type.

He had been recommended this.

What’s your thoughts. He’s on single phase and wants to get the best out of a 32A and at the same time using high end machines for years, he doesn’t want to be disappointed.

He should give Phil Weeks a ring at Warrior Welders. They will sort out the welder he needs rather than what’s on special offer or they want rid of. I don’t get why people are afraid of inverter welders, do they carry the plague or something??

The guy that told my mate to buy an Oxford mig travels the country repairing welders for the man on the farm to the biggest firms in the country. Said the Oxford welders were built to last. No hassle and if an issue they are easy fixed. Said he is constantly fixing inverters. The Oxford I linked was picked by my mate and it’s built to order. No deals or special offers.
