Migraines

Never had them until I reached my forties, when I do get them at times I feel sick. Ibuprofen are beyond useless and tend to give me stomach problems. What do people on here take for them? Over the counter, solpadene solubles tablets tend to be the best cure. But due to a manufacture problem, they are unavailable at present.

I've suffered since primary school, used to paralyse my left side, stammering , then vomit
Fekin scary when your a kid
I've slowly "grown out of them" but can feel a headache starting.
Paracetamol and sleep, work for me , as a youngster I was given something called maxalon which took away the side effects, and paracetamol for the headache
When my dad was alive he used to be given co codamol for pain relief for his arthritis, they were good for my migrain
Good luck finding something that works for you, it's a horrible thing to suffer

There was a time where I suffered with them
GP put me on Maxalt Melts - it's a tiny wafer you place under the tongue - took one and then slept in a very dark room - bloody brilliant
Hope you find something that works for you

Migralieve tablets over the counter. They work miracles if you take them as soon as your eyes go sparkly.
Read the instructions before you need to because if you are anything like me you won't be able to once you get that sparkly eye stage.
There are two different colours, you take two yellow ones first and if they don't work you take a pink one. Might be the other way aroundm sensible thing would be to write on big letters on the packet which way round it goes.

Maxalt Melts get the thumbs up from me as well. The only thing with them is that you have to use them before the migraine gets a full hold, they are no good for actually stopping it.

95% of the time I now get good triggers before a migraine onset so I immediately do the lie down in the dark, quiet room and keep my head as cool as possible bit and thankfully this does nearly always work for me. The odd 5% when I don't or can't do this is just tortuous for head pain and sickness.

I take sumatriptan. You're meant to take them as soon as you get the warning signs, but I wait until I know it's going to be a full blown migraine and not just one my usual everyday headaches and they still work for me. Even when a migraine's already in full swing, half an hour after taking one it's completely gone, but they do make you feel a bit away with the fairies for the next few hours :ROFLMAO:

Use to take a 2 tablets prescribe from the doctors a yellow a red tablet. Take the yellow first signs helps with the sickness and 1hr later the red one. Also darkness and bed was the only treatment that worked well. Don't seem to get them now that often 1 or twice a year.

Yes, whatever treatment you use, it is most effective taken with the first signs.
In my case first sign was tension in the muscles in the back of the neck.
Doc told me it would get better when I got married. He was right, the headaches are now non migrainous!

Paracetamol at the first signs (my eyes go strange at the start) then dark room and sleep. I also take Naproxen (prescribed) to reduce the frequency of the migraines works really well.....until potato harvest then the stress guarantees at least one migraine at some point.
