Migraines will put me on the floor if I get one, vision goes, get very hot head thumping from hell, sick and in hell of a state then get very cold, I never did find anything to stop it been in hospital twice
I seem to have grown out of them and not had one for a few years though I can still feel like I am going to get one
I haven't had chocolate, animal renit cheese or bananas for 25 years, I am not sure if it helped or not
The best thing I have found is to eat regular but not have a big meal and rush of to do something

I can't decide if I'm growing out of them or not, down to approx 2 a year, vision goes blurry first, can sometimes catch it by necking 6 ibuprofen immediately and lying down in the dark with eyes shut.

Otherwise it's thumping head, nausea and fatigue.
Requiring sleep in a dark room, leaves me with a bad head all the next day, and generally weak and feeble.

I should think 6 ibuprofen would solve most things!

Seriously, get yourself some Migralieve from the chemists. Take two of them when your eyes go funny and they very nearly cure it completely. I can keep working if I've got them, I just feel like I want to die if I don't take them.

Had my first this time last year. Out of the blue pins and needles down one side, blurry vision and could actually hardly talk. Quite a scary experience! Had it a few times in quick succession but touch wood not for a while now. Curiously never actually got a headache, only the aura/numbness

The meds that I was recommended weren't to be used if operating machinery, so didn't bother with them. Since found that mine occur after 2 or 3 nights of disturbed sleep.

I have suffered since i was a kid, quite regularly to. then i was listening to a bloke on the radio i think it may even have been on gingers breakfast show, he said one of the often causes was lack of food, i was a sod for skipping breakfast or tea etc. i have since made a point of eating something every 4-6hrs during the day and touch wood they are less often.

Pain relief wise i have tried most tablets over the years but tend to just take to bed and wait it out. however the next day i feel hungover all day.

They run in my family, I've had them for about ten years and their usually brought on by stress / long days with lack of water and food. Spotting the initial signs and getting the meds in early helps a lot. Sulpadeine are my go to over the counter and I have some imigran prescription tablets but I find the prescribed medicines really leave me feeling out of it for a few days. I used to rib my sister for suffering from them until I experience my first, my sister's can last 3-4 days even with prescribe meds which isn't much fun with a baby and young toddler.

It's not worth taking paracetamol or Ibuprofen for them as they won't touch it.

Hmmm. Not migraine as such..Got an intense throbing stabbing pain left side of brain inch or so above ear. First one lasted for 17 days....Doc gave me targin (oxy codene) and my god, i have never been so bloody crook after taking that stuff. 40 min sleep for the night and the headache was still there. Been 3 months now , with it still there nearly every day at some point. Had MRI friday to see if it is something or just have to put up with it...I think (hope) i'm allergic to cows:cautious:

This might help I get headaches pretty bad due to an eyesight problem and find a hot bath seems to release the pain, thins the blood, only thing that cures a very bad one with me.
Also this might be a long shot, I saw a program about wifi one night and the signals can efect people very bad, try turning the wifi off for a day and see if there's a difference. One chap had a wifi booster put outside his house in the street and it sent him nuts and he had to move, just a thought!

Also a sufferer, at its worst was averaging 3 a week 20 years ago, thankfully found my trigger was stress, was heavily in debt at the time with a young family and one child with a condition no doctor could seem to diagnose. Long story short, the money side is sorted, but still have a daughter with special needs, migraines now reduced to patches when stress creeps up on me ( hence I had one yesterday when visiting the in laws :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: )
Like others have said, paracetamol and a dark room sorts them for me (y)

I'm not saying this is a cause of all headache/migraines as stress, sleep, food etc will all play there part but i know a few people that have cut out caffine and its made a massive difference to the frequency and severity.

I know a guy that suffers from Cluster headaches ( also called suicide headaches) . He's one of very few in the UK that has this and needs Ketamine in very high doses to sedate him as these headaches are literally so bad the suffers will thrash their heads violently against anything to stop the pain

Many years ago, I started getting what were diagnosed as migraines. At the time there was speculation the a hidden heart problem could be a factor, as I was not aware of any heart problems, I dis-guarded this, then some years later, I had to have a valve replaced, once that was done........ no more migraines.Due to this, I would advise any suffer to have their heart checked.

my valve is titainium.seems to have stopped my headaches.

Amazing what you learn on TFF (y) iirc there has been noted a connection between migraines and strokes http://www.news-medical.net/news/20...s-with-auras-may-increase-risk-of-stroke.aspx but I had not heard about the link between heart problems and migraines.

Fever few plants help some eat leaves in salad.
Trigger foods or system add up foods like cows cheese, red wine, chocolate etc.etc .
The migrane with the"aura"on/in eyes then clear then headache and sick and sleep off in dark the worst bouts ?
Yes do some types cause it ? such as a gluten intolerance sort of thing?

sounds like an ice pick/cluster headache. The only ones I get are caused by sinus and swollen glands (assume ear problem). I can get a shocking stab that comes from behind the ear to head it can knock me over but its very rare.

Since I have seen a chiropractor for my TMJ (clenching of jaw), cut down on grains and sugar and cut down on alcohol. I would consider seeing a chiropractor or similar, get your aliment checked, any excesses in food and a strict feed regime but everyone is different. Dont underestimate an eye test either.
