[QUOTE="Bongodog, post: 7841742, member: 1343"] Anyone see the reporting of the speech made by the head of UK border force at his retirement party whre he made it quite clear he didn't believe in enforcing the borders ? This is the problem not just with border force but much of our civil service, they have no intention of carrying out the Govt's instructions unless it suits them. Some people do fall for the "we are fleeing from a terrible regime" line that is trotted out, however what sort of man is it that would flee alone and leave the women and children behind ? Good job they weren't on the Titanic. A couple of weeks ago I nearly threw something at the TV, I was watching saving lives at sea and the lifeboat was launched to reascue a rubber dinghy load in the middle of the channel, I fully understand that a lifeboat does and always should launch to any distress signal regardless of who the casualty might be, but what really got up my nose was that the crew 100% believed that these people had put themselves at risk of drowning trying to flee from a repressive regime. Now I know that President Macron is not everyones cup of tea around here, but I firmly believe no one on here thinks he is a person who either personally threatens the lives of refugees or allows others to.
