Cant find the article now, so for the benefit of this thread.....it came from me tanker driver
It could be true, its just over here there's a lot of stories written about the dairy industry but often the writers base everything on Fonterra's numbers (which they have to disclose) I just wonder how accurate some of it is.
There's a lot of milk moved that doesn't belong to Fonterra these days.

wouldn't they still be large enough and have enough geographic spread to be a good barometer?

As did any Arla suppliers in 2018 (I think) sub 20p while muller was 25p.
Ours was 28p average for 2018 Arla 🤔, taking to someone yesterday who is supplying Muller at 29.8p and the same milk would have been 40.2p wit Arla, he's booked to sell the cow's and keep the youngstock for now, not just price is the reason for selling up but final nail in the coffin.

Maybe a year either side? I was at two farms which ever year it was and they were moving to Muller because of the price difference. 6 months later Arla when on the rampage and haven't looked back.

You are right. Forget how far behind we were but it wasn’t good. As they say what goes around comes around but it is not good for those who have to suffer and let’s hope for all of the industries sake that the gap is narrowed and not by one coming down.

Thats all I was getting at really. Just got to take the rough with the smooth.

I know when we looked to move in 2007 Arla were well a head of Belton and Helers.

It was the summer when we were there so it was probably 2016 then. They were both also high yielding holstein guys so i'm guessing they would be 4%bf at best to make it worse? They were both paid up members.

I know a couple of other guys who were with arla but weren't paid in members? I can't remember how it worked exactly I think they all left or got served their notice when the price crashed?

My father has milk minder type sheets going back to the late 1990s looking at the milk price, feed price and margins makes interesting reading.
