Milk Price Tracker

1.52 or 17% higher than the standard price.

if that was the standard price for the whole season we would avg 41p after seasonality and Eodc was taken into account
That’s 7.33p more than 2021
It’s easy to forget how the prices rises have all been fairly recent.
Yep, but electric is 1p more, fert 2p more and feed 1p more. So 3p left with everything else going up.

Why are Muller always on the back foot? Where’s the advantage or premium 1p for March, clearly not good enough. As they like to portray themselves as a “premium player” their price is lower than the second division processors without jumping through the hoops of the Muller disadvantage.

I don’t think they think anyone would leave?

Have heard rumours lately from a couple of sources that they’ve got 100 leaving, wether that’s moving on or exiting the industry I don’t know indeed one of my sources has had it confirmed by that most reliable fountains of knowledge, the tanker driver.
I can think of at least half a dozen that have either sold up or planning to between last autumn and spring within 10 miles or so of here, wether that’s just a local blip or similar across their milk field I don’t know.
It’ aint that long since they gave a number of producers, 34 IIRC the push

They weren't always so its unfair to say they've always been on the back foot. They have historically done well off the liquid market and have paid a good price. Then Roland Kerrs left and it went down hill seemingly from there. Either he was the cause or he saw what was coming and jumped ship.

Its probably a lot of factors from liquid contracts, small product range, business direction etc

I've spoken to people at Muller a couple of times and have had my head bitten off. Which didn't exactly fill me with confidence they were going to turn it around or even had a plan to do so!

When Arla/First Milk were paying sub 20p they communicated really well that they had a plan and times would be hard but good times were coming. Now if you were supplying them at the time and believed they could turn it around is another matter. However it has turned out well for both of them. Albeit farmers weathered the financial implications.
