With no seasonality with Rodda's anyone with a decent amount of milk local to them who is currently selling to arla would be mad not to consider moving.

It's probably cheaper to buy direct from farmer's rather than from dairy crest or Arla. I would of thought as soon as they have enough milk they will drop their price back, just look at barbers

Yes spring calving, but slightly later than most so still doing decent volumes through summer, also i imagine they want high solids, fat in particular, oh and his farm gate is about 6 feet from Roddas factory gate.
Roddas peak demand is in July I believe. Surely only spring calvers can fill this demand. Everyone loves to blame the spring flush on spring calvers but forget that they are producing good quantities of milk in the summer when autumn calvers are drying off.

They are chasing him but I would imagine only if he changes his milk profile and I'm guessing he thinks he's more profitable as he is. @jerseycowsman ?

Yes they do have a spike before Wimbledon as strawberries and cream becomes popular but spring calvers wouldn't help the Christmas demand.

I think they have enough, but a lot is rather watery, and they have CI contracts to fill which I'm sure they don't have enough of, hence, ours and another larger Arla CI are still going in

I would be several pence more profitable with rodda's. In the end they didn't want us to change our calving pattern.
We just couldn't bring ourselves to leave Arla. They won't be on our case all the time.as a tenant I have far more options with Arla. But mainly, why cave in and make their job easier? They promised to help Cornish farmers then just came up with a price based on everybody else's. No thanks.
I heard an ex Arla farmer rep claim that Arla had acted arrogantly to rodda's. What I think really happened is that Arla started charging rodda's properly for CI milk. Milk link had never charged or paid properly for it. Too much thinking about litres of milk and not much thinking about what is in the milk was milk links problem. Rodda's had it too cheap for years (all milk)
Having said all that, I would never consider leaving Arla for anyone but rodda's.

Milk link were hopeless at selling CI milk. The ARLA merger was brilliant for high solids and CI milk link herds.

And there was me thinking Rodda's fell out with arla because arla refused to pass on the 1ppl suppliment that Rodda wanted to pay there supplying farms
