Milk Price Tracker

OMSCo have 2 prices. Spring and winter depending on your profile. It doesn't move monthly.

That is long term investment and should be financed as such. Milk sold shouldn't be an issue.
It's not being financed over a long time. I've swapped it for a tractor and trailer and some cattle. Wouldn't want to finance it over a long time, job could be back to 18p in 12 months

DCD will not go down that road with out current leadership!

Producers meeting coming up soon - feel free to put forward a cogent argument why they should press the nuclear button.

I struggle to believe people are upset with dc.

Some of my guys had valid arguments, some not so and others loved arguing for the sake of it.

The majority of points raised would almost be "after sales" and not related to pricing at all.

Many moaned like hell when core and reserve came in which was understandable as that was handled badly from both DC and DCD. But whilst there is quota on litres there's no quota on fat or protein.

As is the case with most contracts the trick is to be top 25%

I bloody well hope not otherwise we will be talking about a very slimmed down dairy industry.

One you've swapped it for concrete thats it can't swap it back.
Thats a hell of a lot of concrete. I put in 3 loads when i started new set up.that was enough for me.

I hope you did your budgets at 18ppl if thats where you feel i could be!

Is dc still putting milk into roddas?

No think they need the milk themselves now.

I'm not unhappy with dc but do feel that with the current ampe, cheddar/butter/powder value and spot price we ought to be pushing for a better price. We are at a lower price than where we were in the spring and milk values have risen since then.

Dcd state all the above in their newsletter themselves so why have they settled for 1ppl in September.

I can produce milk cheap but if it's worth good money I don't want to give it away cheap. If the market was on the floor then fine but it's not.

Most the gear that was sold hasn't been used for 18 months, so I'm happy not to get it back. I'd love to get away with 3 loads. With the self feed clamp, unfortunately we will be 800m3 or there abouts.

Struggle to do budgets at 18p, as the cost of the cows is a big unknown, so I put them in @£420 each. Wouldn't fancy 18p and today's cow price.

So you haven't got many cows yet? And you think you will buy them at £420?
If i knew i needed cows i would have been buying bullers or even yearlings long before i wanted to start milking

Yes ok but I'm guessing that's a typo, you mean 1000 each? It's easy to miss a zero here and theree
No one hundred pounds.

I popped in to see a neighbour few years ago and he showed me a cracking blue bull calf. He ask how much i would give him for it , i said (i think) £10 what he said it worth more than that. I said you ask what i would give you for it not what it is worth. I did not want the calf i do not want your bullers thankyou.
