I’d not considered that, see what they come up with, it has to be some kind of flat rate across ALL litres produced in the autumn though, paying only on the litres above base does not work IMO.
Watch one of John Roche's talks on marginal milk on youtube, best one probably the recent AHDB one, but the Positive Farmers 2015 is very good.

I think you need to explain that more clearly.
Are you referring to the problem of peak, trough or demand.
My biggest milk months are November and December. I know the trough is in August but the spot price peak is normally around now.
Basically with autumn block calving you don’t produce any milk in the trough and are then still producing a fair amount in the spring.
spring calvers do attribute to the peak but are still producing a lot of milk in the trough.

Yes but be careful what you wish for.
Start to pin it on an autumn Calver they will move but towards spring so the trough might be slightly improved but the peak will expand beyond the processing capacity available.
Doesn't matter what the money is the majority of autumn Calvers will move later rather than earlier.
