I’ve just renewed my electricity contract for two years from January.

The quotes from the big five companies ranged from +51% to +87%. The 51% increase equates to 0.37ppl - and this is just for one of many inputs.

All dairy processors need to understand that to protect their supplies milk prices need to rise; and rapidly.

Therefore, a 2-3ppl rise from Arla today is completely justified and is only to be expected from a farmer owned processor seeking to secure its market share.

Unless you are referring to non-member suppliers price? The Arla price is what the market returns, nothing to do with market share or boardroom machinations.

Fine, but all dairy processors need to relise that the days of dairy farmers working long hours and taking all the risks in the food chain are over for good.

I expect the Arla commercial team, and others, to have been successful in securing significant price increases from the retailers. The wind is behind them.

Most of us have other things we can do with our skills and capital should the need arise, and I speak as one who has worked both sides of the farm gate.
