I don’t think we have an a big an affect on the EU market to hold it back. It’s not like we are undercutting the eu market with cheap product.
Depends what the split of business is EU v UK.

At the moment moving dairy products to the UK is darn sight easier and cheaper than the other way!

Apparently EU production is back, and plenty of capacity for drying milk in France but getting milk to the continent still a massive issue.
Anyone got a link to UK or EU production data Vers last year?

Try a search through here

To put it simply. I do not agree with the penalties Barbers have in place. I have not fallen foul of it yet but I have got bloody close on a couple of occasions. I accept it if we're top of the league table. SCC of 199 vs SCC of 251 is a difference of 3.4ppl that is not correct in my view. They cant even give us a half penny bonus it has to be 0.4, so thats 1.2 instead of 1.5 across the three hygiene bonuses.
we had horrendous bacto problems, that the 'experts' couldn't either find, or sort out, spent a couple of thousand, just on swabbing etc, water testing, micro biology. We found the problem - where everyone said it couldn't be, and by chance. That cost us 3 months 1.5ppl ! So a very harsh month or so, even with recognition that it was a 'not straight forward' problem.
If we had been with Wyke, that would not have been in the penalty bracket, at all. Something of a difference, we really didn't realise, from the contract, but one that can make a huge financial difference, and l rather suspect many others don't realise. And, of course, they use the milk, so basically, cheap milk !
As milk price rises, you can be sure that all processors are looking at ways, to help reduce the actual headline price, whether that is by constituent breakdown, fat v protein, or penalty brackets etc, cannot really blame them, l suspect they have problems getting extra money, from the retailers. But it does underline the fact, that we should all read the small print in contracts !

perhaps the 'sniff' test is more about milk shortages, rather than 'waste', spot milk is rather high. Or even recognition that the milk production is going down, rather than up, something the fert price will encourage. I don't know who has to pay, for 'out of use by' milk, in the shop, s/mkt, probably the processor ! Any discarded once sold, no problem.

Do you mind me asking where the bacto problem was? I’ve got a niggly issue, I cannot get it below 40 and everything has been cleaned inspected, tried different tanks etc. Had milk tested which pointed to tank, scrubbed both tanks etc to no avail.

Have you had the plate cooler apart?

Undo all the milkline and wash line connections. Especially where the pipe size change or type of pipe material changes.
