Just had a phone call from roddas and been asked to put some feelers out there for anyone who would be interested to supply them.

Thought I'd post on here in case anyone is interested, let me know and I can pass on contact details. They've also said to feel free to speak to them on their stand at Royal Cornwall.

They also mentioned that an area they would be able and want to collect milk from would be the other side of wadebridge/bodmin if anyone in that area was unsure if roddas would travel as far ad that.

I'll leave it to that and if anyone is interested send me a message. I'm really pleased with how roddas have looked after me for my first 12 months and even if arla came knocking tomorrow I wouldn't move from them.

They charge 1.15 for 4 pints

Which is fine if they buy milk at 25ppl. At a farm price 40-45ppl it should be £1.60 to £1.70. Either they were packing an absolute packet of money in the past from milk and are just cutting their margin, or they are losing money on it now.

Its holding back the rest of the liquid sector (food service, coffee shops etc) as well. ‘Why should I pay x ppl more Mr processor for my supply, I can go a buy it from the supermarket for £1.15 for 4 pints’ - is an argument the middle ground liquid processors are coming up against.

I was talking to a milk man the other day who said he'd had 6 prices increases this year and reckoned we'd soon see a '£1 pint' at the doorstep.

Grape vine news but one creamery is suggesting with fair confidence that they’ll be on 48ppl for September.

our own milk buyer is telling me that they are quite aware that there won’t be enough milk for everyone this autumn.

I think we can ignore GDT at the moment. China are not in the market bigly due to covid but when they open up again, expect GDT to rise

As an addendum, @Headless chicken I would be more concerned with an EU trade war seeing as we both supply a processor who sends a relatively high proportion of their output in to Europe

agreed it’s certainly something that is at the back of my mind. About time you did the decent thing and opened up your own plant so we can supply you.

Ah, there is a long tale there ............

We looked them very seriously then ran away as it is still all a bit "manyana" and I am not sure if they have put any milk through the plant yet.

They are sort of recruiting though with the aim to be in production by end of this year
