Why. I'm sure the cost to Aldi to buy milk will continue to rise.
They are welcome to absorb that cost themselves if they wish and help our consumer out.
Fudge the consumer it's about time they learnt to value milk nothing else they buy is subsidized by the supermarkets why should milk be

Just had a phone call from roddas and been asked to put some feelers out there for anyone who would be interested to supply them.

Thought I'd post on here in case anyone is interested, let me know and I can pass on contact details. They've also said to feel free to speak to them on their stand at Royal Cornwall.

They also mentioned that an area they would be able and want to collect milk from would be the other side of wadebridge/bodmin if anyone in that area was unsure if roddas would travel as far ad that.

I'll leave it to that and if anyone is interested send me a message. I'm really pleased with how roddas have looked after me for my first 12 months and even if arla came knocking, tomorrow I wouldn't move from them.
As I see it rodda's only really want to pick up from the A30 corridor

Milk is up 7ppl in all the supermarkets 129 for 4 pints now
The question is, will they keep shifting it at a higher price? Liquid has always been fairly dear here but its going up again, anecdotally people are just cutting back on how much they buy.
Cheese was pushing $20 for a KG block of bog standard mild cheddar, a lot of people walked straight past it, one woman told me the other day she stopped to take a photo of the price o_O but went without that week.
This week the supermarket announced that it was rolling back the price to a tenner. They obviously weren't shifting any.

Milk was £1.30 for 4 pints 10 years ago before the supermarkets used it for a price war.
Cheese price is of more concern.

s/mkts will be on full speed, twisting words, to give consumers, the idea they are the cheapest place to buy. Milk would still be cheap, if they doubled the price, and sales would hardly drop.
Heard a good one yesterday on the radio, 'kids don't like eating veg, so to help them eat them, we are including them in our mince'. Well l think veg, is a lot cheaper than mince, would be interesting to see the price. But, full marks for creativity.
However they try to hide it, food inflation is, and continue, to hit the consumer hard, and despite everyone howling at the guv, to do 'something', l can't really see how they can do a lot, except re-introduce subs, on production, now that, would definitely cause fireworks.
However, despite us thinking differently, the guv was right, when it said, higher product price, would offset the reduction in SFP, not to sure they expected the results, to explode into rampant food inflation, but, they were right.
Imported food, really don't think its going to affect home product, to the degree, some would have us believe, product, on a global scale is scarce, and is not significantly cheaper, add in higher transport costs, or, for Aus and NZ, there are much closer mkts, in the far east.

The government could ban food exports like the Indian government has sounds ridiculous but if it's one thing this government certainly is is ridiculous don't rule it out when the rioting starts !

only 50/60% self sufficient.
totally agree, not only our guv, but several more, are sleepwalking into a disaster
even the s/mkts don't seem to have realised this isn't a 'short term' hic cup, but a long term decline, brought about by guvs desire for cheap food, understandable, if stupid, and the s/mkts greed for profit and control, a disastrous mix.
The problem is serious, and there are not many pointers to increase production, more negative ones really. Wasted food is a big problem, partly s/mkt fault for putting use buy dates, on product, that are not necessarily correct.
Globally, as production falls, people in the poorer countries will starve, many to death, those countries will attempt to increase production, using methods that could easily result in desertification, deforestation etc, a short term fix, creating a bigger future problems.
Mankind is the underlying cause, there are simply to many of us in the world, not to sure how one should correct that. WHO has been saying for yrs, the world could not supply enough food, to feed every one, pre 2000, it was 2010, then 2020, then 2030, perhaps the 2020 forecast was nearest the mark.
For farmers, its quite good news, we will be wanted again, and should receive decent prices, for a change, or at least a short time, before we are called feather bedded farmers again.
But, it is a serious problem coming, that no-one really seems to fully take on board.
