Partly because it’s been kept artificially low for so long IMO. The chickens are coming home to roost. Farmers have been pushed to their limits and then they wonder why the sh1!s hit the fan. This has been years in the making

Freshways 45ppl for standard litre July, aiming to pay for 50ppl for September. Interestingly they claim they are seeing no consumer resistance or drop off in demand even at current prices

Milkprices.com reporting the 50p for September as ‘confirmed’ after talking to Freshways, the letter only said ‘aspire to pay’

Ag inflation is running approx treble the general inflation figure, red diesel and electric approx double this time last year, fert approx treble, feed up 50%, those are some of the biggest jumps but also account for some of the biggest expenses.

Spoke to a haulier here who shifts large amounts of timber out of a big sawmill close by. His works dropped right back so the crash is coming, as soon as September time at a guess. So not holding out for much but need the incentive, hard one to tell.
