Milk Quota

Does anyone have any views on whether quota will be an issue next year? We currently hold quota for less than half of our production and never thought this would be an issue. But with a high milk price and forward feed prices back to where they should be, is there any chance of a surge in production next year?

Over levy this year is not going to happen as DairyCo have pointed out, however OP asked about next year. Personally I doubt it. One reason we are up so much is there are a lot of cull cows still being milked as the price is so crap, combined with low feed price and good milk price, but you can't keep them forever. I assume we all get a further allocation of quota on April 1 anyway as we have done for the last few years? This was to help provide the 'soft landing' to abolition but it means production would have to rise even more to exceed quota next year. However, for someone as exposed as the OP it might be an idea to at least take some cover early on if it makes it easier to sleep at night.
