Saw Adam on Countryfile filling a bottle from a vending machine and thought what an excellent idea it was

Surely every town should have at least one of these machines and a local farmer filling it ?

If your a milk producer anywhere near population what's stopping you ?

It just hasnt taken off here has it, Italy they are quite common, only a handfull in the UK and IRE though several co making the vending machines.
Perhaps here everyone wants their cut, making the product just too expensive, and lets face it, a supermarket on almost every corner, even doorstep deliveries are almost a thing of the past.

Rules and regs! Pasturising, packaging, transport, waste.....cheaper products like cola and soft drinks. I agree but it almost needs a dairy co  to do it nationally!!

Going back a few years now, when the tour of britain(cycle race) used to be the milk race, this started a trend for Milk Vending machines, especially in pubs on well know cycle routes, several pubs round here had them, and they did a good trade. So it isnt anything new really.

That's the joke.........they're not cheaper. Bottle of coke, etc in petrol station is £1.50 or so for 500ml (£3.00/litre:mad:)
There should be some profit in doing it somewhere:rolleyes:

So how much is a nice bottle of fresh(ish) milk in a "drinkable" bottle? Not some square thing with an unforgiving lid? Last time I looked a bottle of "Yazoo" was up touching that price!!

Many, many moons ago, when Associated Dairies was on the go, they developed a new product of milk in a ring-pull can. This wasn't flavoured milk. Obviously trying to compete with the canned soft drinks market - it wasn't a winner, as I don't recall it being on the market for long.

I love fresh milk, but I think the biggest thing against it's popularity in teenagers is its colour. Bright white as a food colour is not cool! o_O
