Have you ever had your own milking sheep Tim or worked for someone else? You seem like a fairly sensible, profit driven farmer so I'm sure you've considered milking your own sheep. If so, what put you off the idea? I guess they are milked once a day?

thanks I think
I never asked the chap

by your original reply i thought you'd killed lambs from milksheep....but it was an 'aquaintance'....morally or commercially it couldn't make sense....put a beltex or texel on them and suerly lamb must be half decent?....wean at 5 weeks as tim says

biggest drawback i can see is it must take longer to milk litre for litre ?

Would think adding value yourself would be a key ,liquid may be a problem but something fairly easy like ice cream , or cheese if you have a local artisan dairy . My cousin runs one not sure where he gets his milk though !
