Hi We have recently changed to Milkrite Impulse air vented liners and are having trouble with milk froth in the receiver vessel. We have changed all the milk pump seal but still having trouble. Parlour is 14/28 westfalia direct line with milk meters.
Any ideas to solve this issue??

I had the same issue with the milk rite vented liner, really liked them but impossible to pass cell count because of all the foam, was worse at this time of year when cows were on grass.
I changed to a vented liner and claw from boumatic, very light unit, still a little foam at times but nowhere as bad as before.

Some people run a small return pipe with cold milk from the other side of the plate cooler into a spray head in the receiver vessel which stops foam. Why did you change to milkrite? I’ve had quite unsettled heifers this spring and been recommended milkrite liners for better comfort but seems a big step considering our cell count has always been very good.

We changed to Milkrite Impulse air vented liners about 18 days ago and the change in cows has been dramatic! There is less kicking units off, less liner slip, teat ends are lot better and we don't get any banding around the teat. The foaming in the receiver jar is a big issue at the moment but hopefully with a few tweaks we can iron this out. So far it looks like the cows love them.

tumbledown, did you manage to address frothing issue in receiving jar? We recently installed impulse airs in our 36 aside herringbone and had plant flooding with froth. We have to keep conventional liners on the last 6 to 10 clusters in order to manage froth. Cows really like the liners, we were getting lots of clusters kicked off with our conventional liners. Thanks Ben NZ

Explain, what foam buster is please

The Dairymaster one looks like this, and lets air into the receiver through little holes in the stainless tube, which kills off the foam. Alternatively you can draw cold milk back from the milk tank through a small tube (8-10mm) and drop it into the top of the receiver which also reduces foam.
