Mill dairy service email invoice spam

Just had a email come through from mill dairy services in Norfolk with a invoice, the attachment asked me to log into my Microsoft office account to open it which isn’t outside the realms of possibility with the multitude of different email invoice attachments we seem to be sent now, apparently it’s a virus and you will be unknowingly giving someone access to your email/Microsoft account, beware!

Any invoice email I always double check, I had one last week from the Finance director of our milk buyer. I don't owe them any money so that rung alarm bells. Double checked the email address and there was an extra "m" in the domain name.

Hard to spot.

we had this happen about two years ago, they get access to your email account then send out emails to all your contacts and set up an auto delete so that you don't receive any emails coming in so you've no way of knowing that its happened!

the wonders of the internet, it's no wonder people get conned, we have been having 2/3 phone calls a day, this week, our amazon account has been hacked, good job we haven't got an amazon account ! Last wk, it was bt, as it is usually local numbers, you tend to be a bit off guard.

How do these fraudsters operate? They must have call centres and thousands of pounds worth of computers/phones and phone contracts? Surely it must be traceable and people arrested/charged?!?

well, it's big business now, I wonder how many people do NOT report they have been scammed, as to embarrased to admit to being done ? When I see an international number come up, pick the phone up, and reject call. But with a local number, you pick up and speak, and then they have a chance. But as Scholsey said, surely these must be traceable, or do banks/others find it cheaper not to pay out, for what they say, is your own fault, for giving information, about yourself, over the phone. If I feel in a 'mood' when people ask security questions, to confirm they are talking to the 'right' person, I ask them to answer my security questions, usually 5rd or 8th letter of address, or similar, they are a bit taken aback, but as I say, fairs, fair, usually cheers me up !!!!
