minimum age to escort a combine

Think the escort driver must be qualified to drive said vehicle if needed. Escort vehicle must be correctly signed up and not towing. 2 way communication between escort and vehicle required. (Not phones) oh and don't use your bloody hazard lights and wave your arm in a lazy Norfolk fashion..... it doesn't cut it! I find forward facing white 45watt led's with a flasher unit attached and rear facing either red or orange. During daylight I don't think you can be too bright! After dark..... well don't escort at all

One lad (in his sixties) passed the said "escort" on the correct side of the road, then passed the combine on the nearside (next the hedge) I got a bit of a shock. He said he panicked when he saw the combine in front of him on the narrow road, lucky he had room ...........
Combine was spluttering and coughing all day ...........

Half the drivers take no notice of an escort vehicle anyway, so I sometimes don't bother at all, rather than go and find someone and call in a favour to get an escort.
If they can't see me coming in a damned great combine and get out of my way, then they shouldn't be on the road anyway!
You need an escort had a farm contractor in this area was killed by an unescorted combine a few years ago no crumple zones on the front of a combine and there are plenty of blind bends where a combine cannot be seen

Duel carriage ways are much safer then country roads when moving a combine
Many people drive faster on country roads than they can on the a1 where it is often impossible to go over 56 mph due to weight of traffic and trucks overtaking the 45 mph drivers

On country roads the escort should go round blind bends and slow down all the traffic staying 50 yards in front is a waste of time and dangerous

Also, escort driver has to know what he's doing.

Single carriageway, in front of combine

Dual carriageway, behind combine.

Yes, I have seen escort vehicles in front of a combine in a dual carriageway!!!!!
Remember driving a large Hyundai loading shovel down a12 returning it to does for repair. The tool that was sent to escort me drove in front the whole way.

I personally will get sometimes a mile ahead of road conditions need it! Get ahead on all blind bends, narrow bits etc. I then pull up on wrong side of road just short of a good passing place thus forcing the incoming traffic to stop at right place. Always wind window down and explain what's coming, always say thank you and be very polite

How is that helpful? Have you ignored all the posts? As for the Wally that said don't bother with an escort.... when the police arrive on the scene, and they will, kiss your arse goodbye!
Idiot remarks like that do Agriculture no good at all!
