Is anyone on it? It’s been excellent in helping me but I can’t stick the side effects. I’m tired all the time ( it’s used to treat insomnia! ) also the weight gain ain’t good!

Can you ask the GP for a different medication?

I'm afraid a lot of drugs like these Rob have a list of side-effects that will cover 2 sides of A4 in very fine print. In the distant past I have used one or two myself as I find they are very effective sleeping tablets but the morning after is like having a hang over.

Thanks , yes it’s like that! Have been on sober October yet still feel like I’ve had a night on the beer each morning!

I know what you mean. I felt like I would not be safe to drive and it seemed to take hours to wear off.

If the side effects are too problematic if may be worth asking to be changed to another medication, different people find they get different side effects to them, there is a plethora of different kinds, hopefully you can find something that agrees better with you.

mirtazapine is actually a major antidepressant that usually isn’t prescribed lightly. Your doctor has probably given it to use some of the effects to help your sleep. As you can see there are a lot of side effects and you’d probably benefit from trying a different one such as zopiclone.
None of these are supposed to be prescribed long term. If it’s to help sleep then they are supposed to only be taken until a regular sleep pattern occurs again. (Saying that many people are on them for a very long time).
