We have a 19 cube tub mixer and can mix 8 tons at a time easily. Twin auger machine is so much better than Keenan that we used to have it leaves about 40kg in the bottom when done

Question for you guys, I am getting fed up of cake salesmen continually feeding me bullsh*t and to why the cake price is going up. Yesterday's excuse was pound to dollar exchange rate. So here's me on 20ppl paying well over 200 per ton for cake.

What would I mix with rolled barley to get a 20%protein cake that I could feed in the parlour?

20% protein is pretty pokey are you not grazing or are you feeding a lot of a higher protein to increase forage intakes

No not grazing, cows still in, no grass worth turning them out on here as I had some sheep in over winter and they've eaten it all. I guess my nutritionist puts me on high protein cake to balance out maize and fodder beet?

Fergieman, yes its in production although they seem to be very poor at updating their website. They seem to do a much better job of things on their Facebook page. Try searching for NEWROCK ENGINEERING on facebook there is more photos and videos of the feeder working. I will be giving serious consideration to one next time I change my feeder. The company is run by the former owner of Redrock and they make quality products.

Its not small think its about 20cube. Yes its a paddle like a keenan but that's where the similarities end. Because its a larger diameter it can handle a full round bale of straw. This thread was about mixing blends and the newrock feeders bottom bomb door means if will empty quicker than any other machine. I quite like the retractable blades. You can chop a heap of straw then retract them the rest of the time. Meaning blades will last much longer. Unlike most other paddles you can feed both sides as well.

For mixing blend it's perfect.
But in my opinion, mid you want to feed bales the a tub is gonna take some beating.

Yes but because the diameter of the paddle is much bigger it gives more room for the tumbling effect to take place.

Don't get me wrong it looks a well designed and built piece of kit. Which would petty much mean I will never own it:D

It's hard to build something like a mixer wagon these days that doesn't looks in someway like something else on the market.

There is no "right" mixer. Each one has its own positives and negatives. I just posted the above video because I feel that particular feeder is good at mixing blends. Read back a few posts and its clear other mixers have problems with residual silage left over because they don't empty clean. Its a major drawback on some other machines. Particularly if you want to do small mixes for calfs etc. Or a small mix for drycows with expensive minerals. You want to make sure all the contents are emptied and fed to the correct cattle at the correct rate.
