Anyone doing it? What are you mix in with your clamp silage, at what rate are you mixing it in at. And what's the best way for a even distribution across the entire clamp?
Chap who self feeds mixes it in.@Beef farmer no I haven't been reading it I guess there is an article about it in there. Chap near us mixes 5% rapeseed with his maize every year. Dad has done I in the pass with sugar beet feed to dry up and wet silage. But we never done it scientifically thou.
Chap who self feeds mixes it in.
I was reading a guy doing 7% rolled wheat on a Facebook group. Fills the clamp in layers and spread with an old vicon spreader. Heard of another person putting rape in maize but was struggling to avoid pockets.
What's the benefit if your not self feeding?
Mary Quickes are doing it. Apparently works well. The farm manager reckoned they were saving about 40 mins a day changing grab to bucket, although I would've thought a shearbucket would've been easier!
They just had it dumped nearby and spread it with the bucket, I think.
